old Westbury gardens

On Saturday April 21, 2007 I attended a "Membership Evening" fundraiser at Old Westbury Gardens, located in Old Westbury, New York. One of the mansions listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Old Westbury Gardens is a beautiful Charles II style mansion that sits on 160 acres of prime Long Island real estate known to many as "The Gold Coast" here on Long Island.

The spring cocktail reception, one of the many social events to take place there during the year, featured several Long Island wineries and a few local restaurants presenting some of their best for the guests to taste throughout the evening before the culminating event, the silent auction. Featured in the photos taken in the back yard of the mansion, is my friend Sue Goldman; the guy standing next to me carefully monitoring the baseball score in the ninth inning of the New York Yankee/Boston Red Sox game is her guy, Steve. Steve is from Boston and a fellow die-hard Red Sox fan like myself. I won't mention who won that game, but I think by looking at our faces when Sue took the picture, a good guess would be our team.

If you live on Long Island and would like information on visiting hours, the summer concert series, or on how to apply for a membership, please call 516-333-0048 or visit them at www.oldwestburygardens.org.
